Thursday, June 25

Not much news. We had our first game with Tom and a comment on Jacko. Plus a camp update.

Tuesday was our first game with new backup goalie Tom and he was solid. He didn't let in any really bad goals. He let in three goals but I told the guys to shoot every time, no passing. They got six shots past the other goalie so it was all good. Now he's back resting up two games while Nick plays. It's a silly rule this 2 and 1 but that's the rule so I stick to it.

All these people are mourning Michael Jackson as the second Elvis. I guess he was their Elvis or John Lennon. I was floored when I heard the news first of the heart attack via text then phone calls started coming. I was four when Thriller came out so he was never much of a musical legend to me. He isn't on my playlist. I just hope he has found peace. I still like Sugar Ray better.

I've been helping Dave at camp with the hockey stuff. He can do the crafts and non-hockey games. I know why I don't coach 6 and 7 year olds. They are all at different levels from can hardly skate to can skate backward. We split the kids up a little and I worked with the more advanced group. They get bored real quick too so every 10 minutes it was something new, spending 10 minutes explaining what we are going to do for the next 10 minutes.

I had something else profound to write. I am debating on moving over to Facebook with a shorter version of the blog but bringing the Jerk with me. Would you join me over there?

So it goes.

Monday, June 22

I guess I just have to come to the conclusion that I will be writing the blog for myself and not give a damn who reads it.

Today was the first day of hockey camp. I am working when I don't work my real job and today I am at my real job so tomorrow I meet the 6 and 7 year olds. Colin worked his first full day of work ever. I told him waking up at 7:30 in the summer time builds character. He wasn't buying it. We had a wide ranging conversation on Saturday when I took him out to do Father's Day shopping for Brett. First we went to the bank and learned how to fill out a withdrawal slip then we headed to the mall where he picked up the Adam Sandler DVD boxed set for Brett and a gift bag since "I wrap like crap." We had a food court lunch and then came home where we hid the present for a night. It's good to hang out with Colin, kind of like having a teenager for an afternoon but not really having to care for him and feed him.

Matt is not having shoulder surgery and should be back in 3 to 6 weeks from his dislocation suffered when he was body slammed last week. Tom has been trying the goalie thing in after game practices and tomorrow he gets thrown into the fire. Good luck to him, he's going to need it.

That is all I have to say, the notes say Matt shoulder update, camp update, and Colin Fathers Day. So there you have it. Colin just got on AIM to tell me how his day went and how cool Eric, the kid from Dave's team, is. Looks like Colin has a new friend.

So it goes.

Friday, June 19

Still not much news over here. Nobody is reading, or it isn't counting views, I don't know. Why complain though.

Brett and Colin are home from Idaho. They both got a little sunburnt. Brett said Colin is turning very teenager. He wouldn't get up before 8 even though they were fishing and it is necessary to get up very early to fish. He will probably have a fit when Dave tells him he has to be at the rink at 8:30 for camp.

Fraser made his triumphant return to hockey yesterday. He didn't play much but he was really happy to be able to play for the first time in seven months.

The jerk comes from our London bureau by way of Belgium. Another friendly reminder that tattoos on the face are never much of a good idea. Kimberly Vlaeminck, 18, fell asleep after asking for three stars on her face. She woke up when the artist was working on her nose. She had 56 stars. The artist said he didn't understand what she said. A tiara and sash for Kimberly for getting face tattoos.

I get both Saturday and Sunday this weekend so I will see you all on Monday.

Tuesday, June 16

Oh the fun life continues on. Brett is away on a fishing trip so I am left to feed his dogs and give the one medicine. It took me almost an hour last night getting the drops into the dog’s mouth.

School is out and Dave calmed down a little this weekend. I took him out Saturday to get a couple drinks because he had a rough two weeks. Now he is getting paperwork together for hockey camp. The six and seven year olds come in next week for camp.

A little bit of good hockey news, Fraser finally got a brace that lets his leg not hurt so he might be playing if he can skate warm ups today. He will play on Friday is all goes well.

Tonight I have the fun of going to a viewing for the grandfather of one of Tay’s friends. It gets me out of work so I am making an appearance.

Other than that, it is June and life rolls on.

So it goes.
